Social Minister Presses the Importance of Graduates Ability to Seize

BANDUNG (July 9, 2019) - Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita visited the Social Welfare Pollitek (Poltekesos) Bandung on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. This visit was carried out in the context of the inauguration of education carried out after changing the nomenclature of the College of Social Welfare (STKS) became a Polytechnic.

In his remarks, the Minister of Social Affairs instructed the entire academics of Bandung Poltekesos to sharpen their ability to solve problems and seize opportunities in the world of work in the industrial revolution era 4.0. It is hoped that the Bandung Poltekesos will move dynamically by having a network of cooperation with the Social Welfare Institution (LKS) that is relevant to the study program while building competent and capable Human Resources (HR).

This is contrary to the Social Minister's request that the Poltekesos Bandung not only teach old skills, but also design study programs that are relevant to the world of work supported by various aspects, including teaching abilities, curriculum, laboratories, and equipment related to conducive campus services.

In addition, there are five important messages for Poltekesos Bandung delivered by Social Minister Agus, sharpening complex problem solving abilities, instilling social skills and emotional intelligence, teaching process skills, system skills using abilities, and cognitive abilities.

Meanwhile in his report, Head of Education, Research and Social Counseling (BP3S) Harry Z. Soeratin stated that the event was held to introduce the Bandung Poltekesos to gain academics, stakeholders, and the wider community after changing its nomenclature as a Polytechnic. Institutional changes were made with Government policy through the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Higher Education.

Furthermore, Harry said, the institutional change from High School to Polytechnic is to increase the role of other Ministries' education in assessing and improving the quality of human resources according to the needs of the supporting Ministries.

Also present at the event were the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, officials of the Middle and Primary High Leaders within the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and West Java, former Directors / Chairpersons of STKS Bandung, Chancellors / Heads / Directors / Deans / Heads of Higher Education in Bandung and West Java, and a number of invited guests.
