Social Minister Risma Renovates an Elderly House in Bangkalan who Taking Care 4 People with Disabilities

This resident of Klapayan Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan Regency, East Java, couldn't believe that today her slum house, which is far away, was suddenly crowded with guests. Among the coming guests, it turned out to be the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini.

There was a minister, unimaginable for this elderly person with 3 children and 1 grandson. Moreover, the Minister of Social Affairs came with various assistances. "We will repair the house, ma'am. Later, we will work together with the residents to fix it," said Social Minister Risma to Tipatma.

"Mator sakalangkong (thank you), Mrs. Minister," said Tipatma stunned.

The Minister of Social Affairs conveyed that after coming to Klapayan Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan Regency, she saw directly to the Tipatma's 3x6 meter house with gedek walls (bamboo booths) and a soil-based floor.

In front of Tipatma, the Minister of Social Affairs asked the Head of the ‘Margo Laras’ Center in Pati, Jiwaningsih, to immediately coordinate with local village officials to calculate the house renovation budget needs.

As known, Tipatma lives with 3 children and 1 disabled grandson in a slum house and has a 3x6 meter soil-based floor.

Since here children were child, the house has not changed much, even she still cooks with a wood stove. They also sleep only on a mat and a simple bed made of bamboo.

As a parent, Tipatma really loves his children no matter what the conditions are. "I sincerely take care of them, from childhood to adulthood, I even take care of my grandchildren," she said.

She also admitted that she was not afraid to face these difficulties. She was sure that there will always sustenance. "God will give you sustenance, even though it may not much but we have to be grateful," she said.

Tipatma takes care of 4 family members who are disabled. Her 3 daughters, Tijeh (47), Kulsum (34) and Toyyibeh (32), have been deaf and speech disabled since they 1 years old.

Meanwhile, Tipatma's 1 grandson, who is Tijeh's son, Musarrofah (30), has suffered from cerebral palsy since childhood.

Tipatma, everyday works herding his cows and farming. For her daily meals, she usually helped by her relatives and neighbours. Her husband has long passed away.

Hearing this news, the Minister of Social Affairs ordered her staff to give appreciation, encouragement and assistance to Tipatma who has sincerely cared for and raised her children and grandchildren with disabilities.

In addition to renovates Tipatma's house, the Minister of Social Affairs also handed over assistance for Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) worth a total of Rp. 23.7 million.

Assistance in the form of household, basic necessities, health nutrition, food assistance, entrepreneurship assistance in the form of 1 female cow, rice seeds, corn seeds and agricultural tools for livestock and agriculture businesses.

Tipatma was also given access to record of Electronic Identity Card and Family Identity Card, as well as being registered with the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) in order to receive assistance from BPNT (non-cash food assistance), PKH (Family Hope Program), and PBI (Health Insurance Assistance).

Social Minister Risma also directed to buy an electric bed so that it can be easily arranged for the convenience of Tipatma's granddaughter.

During this visit, Social Minister Risma was accompanied by Member of Commission VIII The House of Representatives Republic Indonesia R. Imron Amin, Bangkalan Deputy Regent Mohni, Bangkalan Secretary Taufan Zairinsjah, and Director of Social Security Heri Kris Sritanto.
