JAKARTA, (June 23, 2021) - Today the Ministry of Social Affairs begins distributing boiled eggs to the public. Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini reviewed the activities of boiling and packing eggs in the Tagana tent in the backyard of MoSA office.

A total of 5,500 people received two boiled eggs each. Eggs are distributed through Social Welfare Institutions (LKS) and RT/RW around MoSA office, Jalan Salemba Raya.

According to Minister Risma, the pandemic has caused many people to reduce their income. This makes them unable to provide the protein needs that are actually needed to fight the virus attack.

“The pandemic has made poor people unable to meet their protein needs. Therefore, we help the community by providing food with a high intake of protein, such as eggs to increase the body's immune system," said the Minister while reviewing egg processing activities in the backyard of MoSA office (23/06).

Today, MoSA received a stock of 110 eggs or the equivalent of 1,650 kg (1.65 tons) received on June 21. Yesterday, another 67 bunches were received, equivalent to 1,000 kg (1 ton).

A total of 3,169 people received eggs through LKS in DKI Jakarta. And 1,200 people through RT/RW around MoSA office. For cooking purposes, as many as 30 volunteers were assisted by Tagana volunteers.

The Minister of Social Affairs stated that there is a separate reason for the eggs to be distributed to the public in a cooked state. "The egg must be mature. If it is given to the public still in a raw, it will be risky. By consuming eggs, it is hoped that it can help protein intake and increase the body's endurance," he said.

"We have cooking utensils so we took the initiative to process it first, so that it is ready to be consumed because if it is given raw it will risk breaking," he said.

Whether other members of the community will receive cooked eggs as well, the Minister still wait for further evaluation. "We'll see first," said the Minister.
