Instilling Fighting Spirit, MOSA Involves Children in the 2021 Heroes Day Activities

JAKARTA (5 November 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs will involve children in the series of 2021 Heroes Day activities at the central level. Social Minister Tri Rismaharini said that it was important to instill the fighting spirit inherited from the heroes to children.
"We want to inspire children that the independence we have won is not a gift but the struggle of heroes. So that they become strong and are enthusiastic to fill in the independence," said the Minister at the 2021 Heroes Day Plenary Meeting at the Aneka Bhakti Building. Ministry of Social Affairs, in Jakarta, Friday (05/11).
The plan was to invite children consisting of representatives of junior high and senior high school students to take part in the National Pilgrimage Ceremony at the Main National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU) Kalibata on 10 November 2021.
"The children are to sing songs of struggle accompanied by traditional music. After that, we will invite them to sow flowers at the heroes' graves," said the Minister.
Furthermore, on 15 November 2021, there will be a Strengthening of Heroic Values which will also invite the representatives of junior and senior high school students from all over Indonesia to visit the graves of heroes, sites of struggle, and museums.
"There will be around 100 to 200 children who are invited. Of course, the children were required to have been vaccinated," said the Minister.
Overall, the 2021 Heroes' Day activities with the theme "My Hero My Inspiration" were held with main activities and supporting activities at the central and regional level as well as at overseas.
Main activities at the central level on 10 November include: 1. National Pilgrimage Ceremony at TMPNU Kalibata with the President of the Republic of Indonesia as the Inspector of the Ceremony; 2. The Flower Sowing Ceremony at Sea with the TNI Commander as the Inspector of the Ceremony; 3. The Ceremony of the Awarding of the National Hero Title at the State Palace with the President as the Inspector.
Meanwhile, other supporting activities are the National Level Heroic Scientific Writing Competition and the Heroic Service at TMPNU Kaibata on 30-31 October 2021.
At the regional level and overseas, the commemoration of Heroes Day is carried out with a limited number of flag ceremonies and the hoisting of the Red and White flag at full mast.
The public is also advised to have Moment in Silence for 60 seconds starting on 10 November 2021 at 08.15 local time while still prioritizing health protocols.
