Receive Braille Embosser Machine, Social Minister: Helping Blind Children to be Independent
JAKARTA (MAY 7, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs
received a grant of IDR 350 M for a Braille Embosser Machine with voice
features from the Telkom Institute of Technology (IT Telkom) Surabaya.
The machine grant was handed over directly by the Rector of IT Telkom Surabaya, Dr. Tri Arief Sardjono and received by the Social Minister Tri Rismaharini.
"The Braille machine grant helps blind children to learn easier and reduce dependence on others," said the Social Minister accompanied by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Harry Hikmat, Jakarta, Friday (7/5/2021).
For blind children, said the Social Minister, aside from being independent, they would be more empowered by reading so that they would be able to learn.
"Blind children can be independent by reading books in Braille writing about livestock, making cakes, making coffee, and soon," said the Social Minister.
"Ordinary books converted into Braille books make blind children possible to access knowledge," said the Social Minister.
Rector of IT Telkom Surabaya, Dr. Tri Arief Sardjono, stated that the Braille Embosser Machine was capable to print 1200 pages per hour speed and was also equipped with 14 voice features.
"This machine is of the publisher capacity supported by a speed of 1200 pages per hour and equipped with 14 voice features. Similar Braille machines made from aboard does not have this feature," said Tri Arief Sardjono.
Simply pressing the button once will generate voice informing a function, one more press on the button will make the machine work according to the voice being informed.
"The advantages of this Braille machines are electricity saving, compatibility, a lifetime guarantee, produced domestically, except for IC components," said Tri Arief Sardjono.
