JAKARTA (January 10, 2023) - The Ministry of Social Affairs again won the Hassan Wirajuda Protection of Indonesian Citizens (WNI) Award in 2022 (HWPA 2022) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu). This award is an appreciation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the existence of the Tanjung Pinang Protection and Trauma Center (RPTC).

One of the work units of the Ministry of Social Affairs plays an important role in the protection and service of Indonesian citizens abroad.  The HWPA 2022 award cannot be separated from the direction of Social Minister Tri Rismaharini to the ranks to improve services to Indonesian citizens abroad who face social problems.

The Minister was represented by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Pepen Nazaruddin, who directly received the award held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ballroom I, JS Luwansa Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (9/1/23).

"Alhamdulillah, the Ministry of Social Affairs through RPTC Tanjung Pinang received the HWPA award. This achievement must be maintained, even improved. We must not be complacent. as the Minister of Social Affairs said that tomorrow must be better than today," Pepen said.

Pepen also said, to follow up on the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, his party continued to strengthen services to Indonesian Migrant Workers who had problems upon arrival at RPTC Tanjung Pinang. The Ministry of Social Affairs improves services both structurally organization, infrastructure, service facilities to the ATENSI program to complement the functions of the Tanjung Pinang RPTC.

At the direction of Minister of Social Affairs Risma, 31 integrated centers / centers as UPT of the Ministry of Social Affairs were formed in such a way that they could function like RPTC Tanjung Pinang in handling Indonesian migrant workers, especially those with problems.

Pepen emphasized that RPTC Tanjung Pinang is not just a shelter, but has a rehabilitation function. "Before they are repatriated to their respective regions, at RPTC Tanjung Pinang they are met with their basic needs, given psychological assessment services, as well as facilitation of social integration in their origin," Pepen said.

RPTC Tanjung Pinang also provides psychosocial protection and recovery services for victims of violence in the Riau Islands.

In addition, RPTC Tanjung Pinang is often the main reference in handling cases of Indonesian Migrant Workers with Problems (PMIB) and Indonesian citizens from vulnerable groups, including in the repatriation process, such as the repatriation of PMI from Malaysia.

In 2021, RPTC Tanjung Pinang facilitated the arrival of 1,120 PMIB from Malaysia in 8 batches. RPTC Tanjung Pinang also handles cases of Indonesian citizens who has illness and Indonesian children experiencing problems abroad.

This is the second award received by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Previously, in 2021, the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation also received an award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Citizens, especially children.
