JAKARTA (April 7, 2020)  In conjunction with President Joko Widodo's direction, the Ministry of Social Affairs began distributing 200,000 monthly packages to affected communities covid-19. Single-serving packages and fast food were distributed to informal workers in the red zone area of covid-19 in DKI Jakarta.

Minister of Social Affairs Juliet p. coal said aid was channeled as social protection for affected communities covid-9. As it is known, the impact of covid-19 makes the informal sector lose its livelihood and thus needs help.

Minister of Social Affairs Juliari said the distribution of food packages was also intended so that people refrain from going home because they fear it has the potential to spread COVID-19 to more people.

“According to the direction of the President, it is hoped that with this assistance, they will receive support for their daily needs. Thus, their desire to go home to their hometown is reduced. This is also a form of #KemensosHADIR in the midst of disaster-affected communities," said Social Minister Juliari, in Jakarta. (07/04/2020).

Today, the distribution of aid has started which was symbolically released by the Dharma Wanita Association Advisor of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs Grace P. Batubara who also represents the Solidarity Action Organization in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Era at the Convention Building at the Main Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery Complex, Jakarta.

The distribution of food packages is planned to be carried out in stages to people under monitoring (ODP) and patients in care (PDP), and informal workers such as motorcycle taxi drivers, laborers, street vendors, and so on.

Meanwhile, the distribution mechanism, according to the Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA), M. Syafii Nasution, is carried out through the Social Service Sub-agency (Sudinsos) in each area in DKI Jakarta.

“Later the tip of the spear will be with the Social Service Sub-Department because they already have the village data sourced from the RT/RW. Those who are ODP, PDP, informal sector workers, daily workers, taxi drivers, online motorcycle taxis, those are our targets," said Syafii.

After going through the Social Service Office, these packages will later be distributed directly through the local village head/lurah to each registered citizen. It is targeted that the process of distributing 200 thousand food packages will last for the next two weeks.

Previously, the distribution of basic food packages was also carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation. A total of 12,350 basic food packages have been distributed to 5 Social Rehabilitation clusters.

A total of 6,000 packages were distributed to the children's cluster, 700 packages to the disabled cluster, 5,200 packages to the elderly cluster, 150 packages to the cluster of victims of drug abuse, and 300 packages to the socially disabled and person trafficking cluster.


Help 20,000 Personal Protective Equipment (APD)

On a different occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs symbolically handed over 20,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assistance to State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir. Later, PPE will be used for health workers on duty at hospitals owned by the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

This assistance was handed over by the Minister of Social Affairs Juliari and received by the Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir at the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Building, today.

The Minister of Social Affairs stated that the Ministry of Social Affairs understands that the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has a State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Hospital as the front guard in handling COVID-19 if the RSUD is already inadequate.

"Therefore, in addition to meeting the social needs of the community, the Ministry of Social Affairs also participates in supporting health workers, especially in BUMN by donating 20,000 Personal Protective Equipment (APD) as the #KemensosHADIR Program," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The handover of Personal Protective Equipment (APD) is also in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 9 of 2020 dated March 10, 2020, concerning Amendments to Presidential Decree Number 7 of 2020 concerning the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In this provision, the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia acts as an implementing member of the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) element in the assigned task force.

Therefore, the Ministry of Social Affairs is making efforts to support the operational plan to accelerate the handling of COVID-19 set by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19.
