The President of the Republic of Indonesia Distributes BLT BBM to Increase People's Purchasing Power

JAYAPURA (September 1st, 2022) - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, distributed the first phase of BBM Bantuan Langsung Tunai (BLT BBM) or Direct Cash Assistance for fuel oil to 20.6 million beneficiaries throughout Indonesia.

This symbolic handover was carried out for the first time to 100 beneficiaries Jayapura Regency at the Jayapura Regency Indonesian Post Office in Sentani.

"Today we have started the distribution of BLT BBM, which is given to the community for four months, Rp. 150.000,-/month so the total is 600 thousand and it given twice, three hundred, then three hundred," said Joko Widodo at the Sentani Post Office (31 /8).

The distribution of BLT BBM starts from the eastern part of Indonesia, namely Papua Province. "Today it has started at the Jayapura Regency Post office in Sentani", said the President.

The distribution of BLT BBM was done to increase people’s purchasing power. "Yes, this distribution was done so that people's purchasing power and consumption can be better," said Joko Widodo to the media.

On this occasion, Joko Widodo also witnessed the process of distributing 1^st phase of BLT BBM.

One of the recipients of BLT BBM said that this assistance was very useful. "This assistance is very useful, so I can fulfil my daily needs. This will be used for school and household needs," said Erni Laura Tokoro (43) who comes from Kampung Ifar Besar.

He also said that this assistance would be used to buy basic household needs and for her childrens’ school needs since she has 3 children who are currently studying in school.

This assistance is also an encouragement for Erni, who has just opened a home business. She hopes that this refilling water business can support her family's economy in the future, especially for her children's school fees.

During this visit, the President was also accompanied by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Tohir, the team of Directorat of Social Security Ministry of Social Affairs, and PT. Pos Indonesia Branch Sentani.
