SUKABUMI (June 11, 2024) - The Ministry of Social Affairs provided various assistance to the family of Yadi (58) who lives with his elderly mother Mrs. Onih (90) who lives at Jalan Tipar, Sukabumi City, West Java. Both of them occupy a house that is almost collapsed and almost without a roof because the house they have occupied since 1980 or 44 years ago, has never been repaired due to lack of funds.
Yadi takes care of his elderly mother who can only lie in bed. Yadi also does not work because his right eye cannot see at all, while his left eye glares when exposed to light. Yadi can only see when there is no light or dimly lit.
The Ministry of Social Affairs through Sentra Phalamarta Sukabumi went to the location and invited Yadi for eye treatment and cataract surgery. Yadi refused to undergo cataract surgery because he had other eye diseases and hypertension, which according to doctors at RSUD R. Syamsudin SH Sukabumi City, if cataract surgery was still taken, there was a risk of blindness. Therefore, Yadi only received glasses to help his vision.
Sentra Phalamarta also invited Yadi and his mother, Mrs. Onih, to live and be treated at Sentra Phalamarta Sukabumi, but both refused because they wanted to stay and keep their home. Therefore, Sentra Phalamarta plans to repair the house, which is scheduled to begin in early next week or mid-June 2024. For now, Sentra Phalamarta officers assisted by Tagana have cleaned the house and disposed of unnecessary items, as well as providing tarpaulins to cover the leaking roof. "House repairs are planned to be carried out next week, in the meantime we together with Tagana cleaned the house and provided a tent to cover the leaking roof," said Risna Ristiana, Sentra Phalamarta's First Expert Social Worker.
