Since July 3, the government has implemented PPKM to suppress the surge in positive cases of COVID-19. This move inevitably has an impact on the economic sector of the community. One of them is small traders.

Darsono, one of the grocery stall traders in Karawang Kulon Village, West Karawang District, felt a significant decrease in his sales.

Similar to from what happened to Darsono, Irawati, who is a fried chicken seller also felt the impact. Her sales have fallen drastically. If she usually can get a turnover of IDR 900,000 per day, now it has decreased to IDR 350,000.

The government did not remain silent. The Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed additional assistance during the PPKM period, one of which is in the form of five kilograms of rice, to affected communities. The rice assistance was distributed through the Regency/City Governments in Java and Bali with each receiving a quota of 3,000 rice packages. With the help of rice, it is hoped that this will be a glimmer of hope in the midst of the difficult conditions experienced by the community.
