Areas on the south coast of Java Island get special attention from the stakeholders of the disaster. Therefore, in order to increase community preparedness on the south coast of Java, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs will soon form a Disaster Preparedness Area. It is a form of development of the Disaster Preparedness Village that was long formed before.

The first declaration will be carried out in three districts namely Kebumen, Cilacap, and Pangandaran. Before the launch which is planned to be carried out simultaneously on November 20th, the Ministry of Social Affairs will first conduct a coordination meeting with the local regional government and also the relevant stakeholders.

"Since there are many regions that have potential and threat of disasters that are massive and broad, it is necessary to develop wider community preparedness and mitigation," said the Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Rachmat Koesnadi, who led a coordination meeting on Friday (11/15) night in Cilacap.

The formation of the Disaster Preparedness Area also received high appreciation from the local government. Both the Vice Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Aulia Rachman and Plt. The Head of the Central Java Social Service, Yusadar Armunanto, who was present at the coordination meeting, also provided support for this program.
