INDRAGIRI HULU (4 November 2022) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini listened carefully to the expressions of leaders and residents of the Talang Mamak Tribe. "For housing, Insya Allah, I will think about it. I will try to study it. Later, we will see which ones are capable," she said at the traditional location of the Talang Mamak Tribe in the Talang Jarinjing Village area, West Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Thursday (3 /11).

Empowering Remote Indigenous Communities (KAT), Talang Mamak Tribe, is one of the responsibilities of the Ministry of Social Affairs to actualize welfare for Indonesian society. The state must be present for all citizens, including the Talang Mamak Tribe.

The winner of the Honorary Doctorate from Tongmyong University said that he would conduct a survey of the condition of the area where a decent house would be built, including the availability of land and the structure of the building to be built. This is because Talang Mamak tribe has a distinctive house design. Social Minister Risma invited the community to jointly identify their problems and needs.

Apart from housing, Talang Mamak Tribe also requested the construction of a traditional hall in accordance with customary norms. They also asked for an ambulance because many people live in remote areas and really need an ambulance so they can access health services quickly. "I will review and follow up on this request," he said.

Furthermore, the discussion highlighted the participation of the Talang Mamak Tribe in the Family Hope Program (PKH). The Ministry of Social Affairs and local governments will work together to verify data.

"Later we will match the data, who has not received it, who has received it. Please submit it to the village head," Risma said when answering a question about PKH participation by one of the Talang Mamak Tribe communities.

There are at least 307 Heads of Families living in Talang Jarinjing Village. Meanwhile, thousands more live and spread in several areas in Riau and Jambi Provinces.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs together with the Regent of Indragiri Hulu Rezita Meylani Yopi also distributed assistance in the form of 50 basic food packages to the community.
