MAKASSAR (December 22, 2024) – Makassar has been hit by a devastating flood, forcing 1,611 people to seek evacuee in six urban villages, according to data from the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

The affected evacuees are spread across the villages of Paccerakkang, Manggala, Batua, Pandang, and Tamamaung. In response, MoSA moved immediately to assist the displaced individuals.

"The total aid provided by MoSA amounts to IDR 1,873,045,000," said Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

The assistance distributed included 25 units of velbeds, 1,000 ready-to-eat food packages, 5,000 meals, 800 mattresses, and 650 blankets. Additionally, there were 500 family kits, 600 children's kits, 300 roll-up tents, 30 portable family tents, 1 multipurpose tent, 1 inflatable boat, and 1 engine.

"Additionally, 800 basic food packages were distributed to Pangkep Regency, Makassar City, Maros, and Gowa," he added.

For Makassar City, the following items were distributed: 184 children’s kits, 184 family kits, 334 ready-to-eat meals, 125 mattresses, 200 blankets, and 20 roll-up tents.

Aid was also sent from various social granaries to surrounding regions on December 22, 2024. From Sentra Pangurangi Takalar to Soppeng Regency, the aid included 50 children's kits, 50 mattresses, 50 blankets, 50 children’s clothing kits, 50 adult clothing kits, 200 ready-to-eat meals, and 200 children's meals for IDR 97,510,000.

From the BBPPKS Makassar granary to Soppeng Regency, aid included 1,000 ready-to-eat meals, 400 children’s kits, 300 family kits, 100 roll-up tents, 300 mattresses, 300 blankets, 10 portable family tents, and 200 ready-to-eat meals worth IDR 621,604,500.

Similarly, aid was sent from the BBPPKS Makassar granary to Maros Regency, consisting of 1,000 ready-to-eat meals, 400 children’s kits, 300 family kits, 100 roll-up tents, 300 mattresses, 300 blankets, and 10 portable family tents, amounting to IDR 605,504,500.

The Regional Makassar granary also sent aid to Pangkep Regency, which included 1,000 ready-to-eat meals, 400 children’s kits, 300 family kits, 100 roll-up tents, 300 mattresses, 300 blankets, and 10 portable family tents, totalling IDR 605,504,500.

Another aid was sent from the Regional Makassar granary to Barru Regency, including 1,000 ready-to-eat meals, 400 children’s kits, 300 family kits, 100 roll-up tents, 300 mattresses, 300 blankets, and 10 portable family tents, amounting to IDR 605,504,500.

Lastly, from the Sulawesi Selatan Provincial Social Service warehouse to Makassar City, the aid included 200 ready-to-eat meals, 100 mattresses, 100 blankets, 50 family kits, 50 children's kits, 50 roll-up tents, and 5 portable family tents, in addition to 800 Sembako packages valued at IDR 180,000,000. This aid had a total value of IDR 338,070,000.
