JAKARTA (March 26, 2025) – The government is targeting to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026. The strategy, in addition to social assistance, is also through empowerment programs. "The government is fighting as hard as it can so that poverty can be eliminated," said Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo during a dialogue with Beneficiary Families at Al Falah Grand Mosque, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta on Wednesday (3/26/2025).
According to him, the elderly, orphans, and poor communities are the main concerns of Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) following the direction of President Prabowo Subianto. One of the programs being designed by the Prabowo-Gibran Government is free nutritious meals for school children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.
"Although not evenly distributed, later all school children will receive free nutritious meals," said Vice Minister Agus Jabo. In addition, MoSA also continues to expand the lifelong social protection program. Assistance for the elderly, for example, is provided in the form of a food program, which has now reached 100 thousand recipients throughout Indonesia.
"They get food twice a day, morning and afternoon. This is proof that the government is always present in the community," he said. In the field of education, the government is establishing public schools for children from underprivileged families. This school will cover all education costs and provide dormitories so that students can study comfortably.
"The president wants all children to be able to go to school. No one should drop out of school because of financial problems," said Agus Jabo. On this occasion, Agus Jabo handed over basic food packages to 100 beneficiaries. In addition to distributing aid, he also had a dialogue with the beneficiaries, the majority of whom are elderly.
"I am grateful and happy to be able to come to this mosque, which is located close to where I live," he said.
The Head of the DKM of Al Falah Jami Mosque, Ustaz Farid, expressed his appreciation for the visit of Vice Minister of Social Affairs.
"Hopefully, this gathering will bring many blessings to all of us," he said.
