BEKASI (April 8, 2024) - Green, shady, comfortable, and beautiful looks from the Elderly Agrotourism located at the Bekasi Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center (STPL) owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs. The location, which was inaugurated by Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini in February 2021, has become a favorite spot for grandparents who live around the Bekasi Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center to take a break for breathing the fresh air.

This elderly agro-tourism is one of the elderly-friendly green spaces in the Pangudi Luhur Bekasi Integrated Center with an area of around 3,620 square meters. Inside, there are many interesting facilities including foot massage stones, bird parks, rest shelters, fish ponds, and plants and trees.

Not only as an environmental cooler, this agro-tourism serves to provide productive activities for elderly beneficiaries who live in STPL Bekasi. One of them is Mr. Sugiarno (74) who chose to keep himself busy with catfish farming activities in the Elderly Agrotourism.

“I have been here for two months, I feel better here because I am given the activity of catfish farming because previously I lived outside like uncertainty, now I am fulfilled here,” he explained.

Since lived at STPL, Mr. Sugiarno has been asked to take care of 1,500 catfish seeds which are fed twice a day.

Another case, Mrs. Musriyati (79) chose to keep herself busy planting kale and chili. Even though it is just occasionally watering and picking the results, Mrs. Musriyati is happy to still be able to do activities in her old age.

“In this elderly agro-tourism, the activities are cleaning, planting cassava, and harvesting kale. I thank you for being allowed to live at STPL. I am cared for, the employees are nice, the service is also good,” she explained.

This Elderly Agro-tourism is open for public from 08.00 to 17.00 WIB. Inside, this agro-tourism has land for productive plants such as sweet potatoes, cassava, oranges, chilies, Moringa leaves, and mangoes. The activity of planting various kinds of plants is also a fatigue reliever and a free time filler that can be utilized for the elderly who is able to move and physically healthy.
