BEKASI (March 8, 2025) – Carrying out the mandate of President Prabowo Subianto, Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) is preparing Sentra and Balai Besar under the auspices of MoSA to become locations for the establishment of Community School.

To ensure the readiness of Sentra owned by MoSA, Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. Teddy Indra Wijaya; Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), and Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo reviewed the readiness of Sentra Terpadu Pangudi Luhur (STPL) Bekasi, which will be one of the locations for the establishment of community school on Saturday (8/3/2025)

“Well, this is one of the places that will be used as a community school. Part of STPL, an asset of MoSA,” said Gus Ipul while reviewing the infrastructure at STPL Bekasi.

After reviewing, Cabinet Secretary Teddy was of the opinion that the infrastructure at STPL was very good to start the implementation of community schools. Only a few additions are needed so that the boarding school can run optimally.

"Thank God, according to him (Cabinet Secretary Teddy), this is very feasible. There are only a few additions. So it is considered very good," said Gus Ipul.

STPL Bekasi is one of 31 centers under the auspices of MoSA. The current STPL is a combination of three previously existing centers, namely the Social Rehabilitation Center for Former Homeless and Beggars "Pangudi Luhur" Bekasi, the Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Sensory and Visual Disabilities "Tan Miyat" and the Social Rehabilitation Center for the Elderly "Budhi Dharma".

The three centers standing on 16 hectares of land were then merged into STPL Bekasi on March 3, 2022. In addition to the merger of Sentra, there was also a change in the focus of services. The three centers previously had different service focuses. However, since the merger into STPL, it has provided multi-services to Social Welfare Service for Persons in Need (PPKS).

Sentra is equipped with various facilities and infrastructure to support the improvement of PPKS' lives. Dormitories, toilets and bathrooms, places of worship, sports fields, health clinics, classrooms, and training rooms are available at STPL. STPL is even equipped with facilities for people with disabilities, such as guiding blocks for people with visual disabilities.

The completeness of the infrastructure certainly supports the needs of the Community School dormitory. However, adjustments and additions to facilities are still needed to be able to adjust to the needs of children from poor and extremely poor families who will later live in the dormitory.
