KEDIRI (January 1, 2025) - Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf distributed and inaugurated the social granary at the Belimbing Village Hall, Mojo District, Kediri Regency. The Social Granary is a warehouse for emergency needs for the community if a disaster occurs.

"There are 730 social granary points throughout Indonesia. This is the 730th point, thank God. Hopefully, this social granary can be utilized well if a disaster occurs, and hopefully, no disaster occurs," said Saifullah Yusuf, who is familiarly called Gus Ipul, on Wednesday (1/1/2025).

Gus Ipul explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) has 730 social granary points with a nominal value of IDR 42 billion throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, in East Java Province there are 53 social granary points with a nominal value of IDR 18 billion. Then for Kediri Regency, two social granary points have just been inaugurated in Kediri Regency with a nominal value of IDR 486 million.

"So the social granaries are in two villages in Kediri Regency, one in Blimbing Village, Mojo District and Maron Village, Banyakan District, from the two places the value is IDR 486 million, so one place can be more than IDR 200 million," said Gus Ipul.

The details of the goods in the social granary consist of 1,000 ready-to-eat food packages; 200 kids ware packages; 130 blankets A2023; 70 blankets 2024; 150 family kit packages; 200 mattresses; 16 family kitchen equipment packages 2022; 84 family kitchen equipment 2024; 10 portable family tents; 100 baby clothing packages; 100 roll-up tents.

Gus Ipul emphasized that the social granary can only be used when a disaster occurs, it must not be misused for personal gain. The use of the social granary must go through the applicable procedures, namely the determination of the disaster area by the regional head.

"If a disaster occurs, then the Regent determines that this area is a disaster area, only then is there an emergency period here, only then can this (social granary) come out," he said.

In addition to inaugurating the social granary, Gus Ipul also handed overcompensation to the heirs of victims who died due to the fire that occurred in Templek Village, Purwoasri District, Kediri Regency, Thursday (12/19/2024).

"The fire that occurred in Purwoasri District resulted in the death of the deceased, so MoSA provided compensation of IDR 15 million, if there were any injuries, assistance was also provided for IDR 5 million. So that is part of the compensation package owned by MoSA," said Gus Ipul.

Hendri Cahyono (43), the heir of the fire victim, admitted that he was grateful for the compensation and basic food packages given directly by Gus Ipul.

"A thousand thanks to MoSA, for providing compensation, hopefully this assistance can ease the burden of the disaster that occurred," he said.
