Jakarta (October 31, 2024) - Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf met Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar at the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment Office on Thursday (31/10/2024). The Minister, who is familiarly called Gus Ipul, came to discuss the synergy that will be built by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment.

“We report all programs that have been budgeted at the Ministry of Social Affairs and at the same time we ask for direction to adjust the priority programs that we will carry out in 2025,” Gus Ipul said after the meeting which was also attended by officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment.

During the meeting, three main programs of the Ministry of Social Affairs were discussed, including social protection and security, social rehabilitation, and social empowerment. In running the program, the first focus of the Ministry of Social Affairs is to meet the basic needs of the community and to empowerment. These empowerment efforts must be intertwined with the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment and other Ministries / Institutions in charge of empowerment.

“Well, the first thing is that the basic rights are fulfilled, even if related to food, shelter, and so on. After that, they will be empowered. During this empowerment, the Coordinating Minister will coordinate ministries that have empowerment programs and we run them together,” Gus Ipul continued.

The Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, who is often called Cak Imin, welcomed the arrival of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Cak Imin revealed that the state is always present to deal with problems that often arise in society through social protection, social rehabilitation, and empowerment. He said he would prepare all three programs in more detail.

“We will prepare the three stages in more detail, and of course at the same time with the budgeting for us to review and confirm the budget with the Minister of Finance,” said Cak Imin.

In addition to discussing synergies and strengthening programs, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment also discussed concrete efforts to compile integrated social welfare data. This data will later become a source and will be used by Ministries / Institutions so that various assistance provided to the community is right on target.
