JAKARTA (10 November
2023) - Minister of Social
Affairs Tri Rismaharini solemnly led the Flower Sowing Ceremony at Sea in
commemoration of Heroes' Day 2023.
The ceremony was held at exactly 8 a.m. on the
stern deck/Helly Deck of KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (992) also
a Hospital Auxiliary Ship belonging to the Indonesian Navy that sails in the
waters of Jakarta Bay.
Minister Risma acted as Ceremonial Inspector
accompanied by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral of Indonesian Army
Erwin S. Aldedharma and acting as Ceremonial Commander Marine Lt. Col. Ahmad.
The ceremony began with the Ceremony Commander's
Report, Honouring the spirits of the heroes, a moment of silence, the throwing
of wreaths, and closed with the reading of prayers.
The theme of the 78th Heroes' Day is
"Heroic Spirit for the Nation's Future to Fight against Poverty and
Ignorance".
Minister of Social Affairs emphasized that
poverty and ignorance are the main enemies that must be fought for the nation's
future.
"This theme is taken where today's heroes
are fighting poverty and ignorance which are indeed our main enemies in the
future and so that this nation will be more enthusiastic about fighting poverty
and ignorance," explained Risma after the Flower Sowing at Sea on the Deck
of KRI RJW 992.
In her message delivered at the 2023 Heroes' Day
Commemoration, the Minister also conveyed the spirit of heroes to refuse to
lose and surrender to circumstances and together build businesses and a
people's economy that will make Indonesia grow into an increasingly advanced
and prosperous country.
On the same occasion, Deputy Chief of Staff
added the importance of appreciating the services of heroes.
"As a great nation that appreciates
the services of heroes, we also need to promote our heroes so that they are
known and acknowledged," she added.
The series of activities for Heroes' Day
in 2023 include National Ceremonies and Pilgrimages at Kalibata Main National
Heroes Cemetery, Flower Sowing Ceremony at Sea, Awarding the Title of National
Hero at the State Palace, Reflections on the 10 November Struggle and Future
Struggle at Kalibata TMPNU Convention Hall.
