PUSPAHIANG (May 29, 2022) - The series of commemoration of the 26th National Elderly Day (HLUN) of 2022 has begun, one of which is in Puspahiang District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The commemoration was opened by hand overing practical tools for the elderly.

The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA)  through Sentra Budi Perkasa Palembang handed over a wheelchair for Bana (70 years old). This elderly experienced back pain and could not walk because he fell while riding public transportation. Before getting a wheelchair, Bana walked with his two hands and legs straight ahead for 5 years.

The handover of the wheelchair was carried out at Bana's residence in Padaluyu, Puspahiang Village, Puspahiang District on Saturday (28/5). The assistance was handed over by the Head of Puspahiang District, Ari Fitriadi.

Other than Bana, the elderly who was given a wheelchair was Kodir (86 years old). Kodir has been paralyzed since 2 years ago due to a stroke. To perform daily activities, he must always be assisted by others.

Ari Fitriadi also handed over a wheelchair from MoSA at the Kodir’s residence in Gandok, Puspahiang Village, Puspahiang District on Saturday (28/5). This assistance was immediately accepted and used by Kodir.

"This commemoration inspires the community that elderly are family matters. The elderly must be taken care of by the closest family. Hopefully, what the government does can be an example that we have the responsibility to take care of the elderly as parents. This is our fondness for parents", Ari explained.
