SURABAYA (4 July 2021) – Social Minister Tri Rismaharini instructed to establish a public kitchen in City of Heroes, Surabaya, East Java for the Covid-19 pandemic emergency response service.
A public kitchen was established in the courtyard area of the Convention Hall Surabaya on Jalan Arif Rahman Hakim with distribution areas to Surabaya, Gresik and Sidoarjo.
“I've bought the ingredients for the rice and the boxes. The distribution will start tomorrow. There were already requests from Sidoarjo as many as 1,500 boxes, 1500 boxes for Gresik and 2000 boxes for Surabaya," said Social Minister Tri Rismaharini in Surabaya, Sunday (4/7/2021) afternoon.
Ready-to-eat food, said Risma, comes from public kitchens in order to relieve health workers and patients in hospital.
"Public kitchens have also been established in Jakarta to serve Bekasi area, Bandung to serve Greater Bandung area, and Solo to serve Klaten and its surroundings," said the Social Minister.
After shopping for the ingredients at Pasar Pucang Surabaya, the Social Minister also visited the Surabaya emergency hospital at the Lapangan Tembak.
The public kitchen in Surabaya is not only managed by Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), but also by staff from center owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs, namely Kartini Center Temanggung, Antasena Center, Margolaras Center Pati and Satria CenterBaturaden.
While waiting for further developments, for the first stage, ready-to-eat food from Surabaya public kitchens will be distributed to health workers, beneficiaries (PM), and volunteers.
For field operations, the Social Minister is also assisted by the Acting Head of the Surabaya City Cleanliness and Green Open Space Office, Anna Fajrihatin.
