JAKARTA (September 19, 2024) – Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf has directed his team to swiftly distribute aid to the earthquake victims in Bandung and Garut Regency. "We must act quickly and effectively in delivering aid to the victims in Bandung and Garut," said Gus Ipul in Jakarta on Thursday (19/9).
The 5.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Bandung Regency on Wednesday (18/9) also caused damage in Garut, West Java.
Shortly after the earthquake, the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) immediately dispatched aid to victims in both regions.
MoSA provided four multipurpose tents, 71 portable family tents, 40 tarps, 230 mattresses, 80 ready-to-eat meal packages, 100 children's food packages, 370 blankets, 290 family kits, 290 children's clothing packages, and two solar cell lighting units in Bandung.
MoSA, through the West Java Provincial Social Office, delivered more supplies, including two multifunctional tents, 150 rolling tents, 20 family tents, and 125 mattresses.
MoSA also sent 250 blankets, 700 ready-to-eat meal packages, 400 children's food packages, 75 family kits, 75 children's clothing packages, and two portable restrooms. MoSA provided IDR 1.5 billion to earthquake victims in Bandung.
For victims in Garut, MoSA distributed ten portable family tents, five family tents, 20 kitchen equipment sets, 60 rolling tents, 100 blankets, 100 adult clothing packages, and 50 children's clothing packages.
