Bandung (September 20th, 2023) – Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini inaugurated 410 graduates of Social Welfare Polytechnic (Poltekesos) in Bandung on a traditional ceremony held on Graduation of Applied Bachelor and Applied Master of Social Work in 2023 in Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) Building on Wednesday (20/9).

Thirty-four graduates of Applied Master of Social Work major program, 263 graduates of Applied Bachelor of Social Work major program, 62 graduates of Applied Bachelor of Social Protection and Empowerment major program, and 51 graduates of Applied Bachelor of Social Rehabilitation major program finished their studies successfully.

Minister Risma said that the graduates will face a huge challenge because the graduates of Social Welfare Polytechnic will have to compete with the global community.

“You’ll face a huge challenge due to world economic globalization. All human resources from all over the world can go to Indonesia. This means that your competition is not only with your fellow Poltekesos friends but also from other campuses and throughout the world," Minister Risma said.

However, Minister Risma thought that to face the challenge, Poltekesos’ graduates have more value because they are multitalented. They can work in any sector and communicate well with people who have been marginalized. All thanks to the knowledge gained from Poltekesos.

“The knowledge gained from Poltekesos can be used as a guide to work in all sectors. You are multitalented. You can communicate with everyone, for example, communicate with other person with disability, and you can also help to optimize their potential,” Risma said.

Further, Minister Risma said that even though they have bachelor's or master's degrees, the graduates will not be cocky and arrogant. They have to continue exploring knowledge and not complain no matter how difficult the conditions they face.

“Don’t feel ashamed to ask even though you have a bachelor's or magister degree. There is nothing perfect in this world. Keep learning. You can work while studying. Make yourself meaningful to those around you," Minister Risma said, greeted by loud applause from the graduates and their families attending the event.

The head of the Education, Training and Professional Development Center of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Afrizon Tanjung, also expressed his pride in the graduates. Afrizon expressed his appreciation for the struggle and positive image that has been shown for Poltekesos.

“Congratulations on your success in completing your studies at Poltekesos. Thank you for the struggle and positive image that you have shown for your beloved alma mater, Poltekesos Bandung, I hope you will always maintain the greatness and good name of this alma mater,"  Afrizon said when giving his speech.
