JAKARTA (April 26th, 2024) – For a long time, Leni Herlina (28) has dreamed of having an electric wheelchair that can be driven by herself. Leni did not expect that her dream would come true after coming to the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA), and was even handed it over directly by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

Not only that, Leni was also invited by the Minister on an office tour, touring MoSA’s Office using her new wheelchair, and seeing the works of people with disabilities displayed along the corridors and corners of the office.

Leni is a person with a physical disability. Her legs are paralyzed, so she has to be helped to carry out her daily activities. Previously, Leni had tried her friend's electric wheelchair, which for her felt very comfortable. She also wanted to have the same wheelchair, but it seemed to be hard to achieve due to financial constraints.

Unexpectedly, she received an electric wheelchair from the Minister of Social Affairs.  The gift made her happy. "I’m very happy. Previously, I just stayed at home as I couldn't go anywhere. Thank God, after getting this electric wheelchair, I can walk anywhere," said her happily, Friday (26/4).

Leni's presence at MoSA was to attend the handover of assistive equipment for people with disabilities provided by the Indonesian Good Seeds Foundation (YBBI) together with Grab and Hyundai Motors Indonesia. This activity was attended directly by the CEO and Founder of YBBI, Senior Journalist Andy F. Noya, as well as the representatives of Grab and Hyundai. Seeing Leni enthusiastically riding an electric wheelchair made the three of them expressed their desire to provide similar assistance.

This was welcomed by the Minister of Social Affairs. YBBI will be given access to assistive equipment products produced by MoSA. Apart from that, the Minister of Social Affairs will also facilitate assessments for recipients of YBBI assistance benefits, so that the assistance provided can be utilized more optimally.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, YBBI provided assistance with 140 packages of prosthetic legs, 150 packages of wheelchairs, 12 packages of prosthetic hands, and 1,000 Grabmart vouchers worth IDR 500,000 per voucher, with a total assistance value of IDR 1.75 billion.

This collaboration involving the private sector and community organizations received appreciation from the Minister. Risma said social problems can be overcome with cooperation between various parties. "If we work together, then all the problems around us can definitely be resolved. We have the basic needs for that because mutual cooperation is the culture of our nation," said her.
