JAKARTA (December 6th, 2022) – Ministry of Social Affairs continues to oversee post-disaster management in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Minister of Social Affairs explained the strategic steps in handling post-disaster in NTT.

Ministry of Social Affairs’ policies in NTT which is short-term programs that directly related to disaster impact management. In this case, Ministry of Social Affairs encourages the improvement of housing for the affected communities and dredging of shallow rivers to minimalize flooding.


This policy is in line with the development of human resources in NTT. For this purpose, the Minister has instructed her staffs to encourage the construction of community center in NTT.


"In NTT we help to provide houses for residents and also dredging the rivers to reduce flooding. We are also preparing to build a community center that are equipped with modern facilities," said the Minister of Social Affairs when receiving the General Chair of SCTV-Indosiar Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation (YPP) Imam Sudjarwo in Jakarta ( 06/01).

The facilities at the community center becomes a concern of the Ministry of Social Affairs, not only for short-term needs. However, in the long term, the community center is prepared to improve the quality of human resources for the youths of NTT.


"We provide the best community center facilities so that children in NTT can access various information for the development of education and knowledge," said the Minister of Social Affairs.


Another strategic policy in NTT is the implementation of community economic empowerment programs. "We are preparing entrepreneurship development, livestock and agriculture assistance," said the Minister.


The Ministry of Social Affairs will also initiate the construction of clean water facilities as well as the construction of electrical energy from solar power (solar cell). "With all of these assistances, it is hoped that the community's economic can be more independence and the poverty can be accelerated," he said.


On the occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs expressed her appreciation for YPP who represented the viewers of the two television stations. Donations from viewers are in line with the policy direction of the Ministry of Social Affairs.


"Thank you for the help and concern of Indosiar-SCTV viewers through YPP. We will allocate aid for flood victims in NTT," said the Minister of Social Affairs.


On the same occasion the General Chairperson of YPP Imam Sudjarwo stated that the assistance was handed over through the Ministry of Social Affairs in the amount of Rp. 1 billion. Assistance is directed to help to prepare housing for flood-affected communities.


"We provide assistance through the government, in this case of the Ministry of Social Affairs as a trusted partner. Thank you for the cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs and YPP that has been established so far," said Imam.
