MATARAM (December 8th, 2023) - Sopan Sopian's eyes were full of hope when Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini approached him. He didn't expect to receive some help from somebody during his child's treatment process.

His son, Revan Solluh Maulana, 11 years old, suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) or a fairly rare severe dystrophic disorder, which caused weakness in his muscles.

He never thought that he would meet a figure who would later make him, especially his son, have the spirit to recover. "Thank you, thanks for the assistance, that enable me to meet Minister of Social Affairs. While undergoing treatment at RSCM, we were assisted with accommodation, meals and transportation from "Handayani" Center in Jakarta belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA)," said Sopian.

For Sopian, who was a farmer, his income was only enough to meet his daily needs. His life became increasingly worrying when he saw the condition of his only child lying weak, at a time when children at Revan's age were enjoying playing football and trying various other sports.

"We were confused as what the causal factors were. The disease appeared little by little. It started with a change when he was five years old, he often walks tiptoed. We (parents) were not inattentive, we thought it was just the way he walked, but it turned out to be an illness," he explained.

Apart from these symptoms, Revan also often fell, so that his condition became weaker day by day. "So, in the past year, he has been paralyzed in his lower body, he is unable to walk," he said.

Knowing this condition, Minister of Social Affairs handed over Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) to Revan's father at "Paramita" Center in Mataram, Thursday (7/12).

The ATENSI was in the form of operational medical costs during in Sumbawa Regional Hospital and in Jakarta, nutritional assistance, school supplies, shoes and children's wheelchairs. The assistance provided was worth a total of IDR 24,260,680.

On the same occasion, kitabisa.com also handed over donations from people to Revan's father. The donations given were worth IDR 19.1 million from 1,214 donors.

"Thank you to the people who have donated through kitabisa.com, so that Revan can be given treatment. At least, it can reduce his burden," said the Minister.
