JAKARTA (July 1, 2020) - The COVID-19 pandemic also affected the automotive sector workers members of the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI). With social restrictions, making those who rely on life from automotive events, to lose income.

"The pandemic has affected the automotive sector workers. Today, the board of IMI Pusat, will have an audience with the Ministry of Social Affairs. Later we will distribute social food staples to ease their economic burdens, "said Social Affairs Minister Juliari P. Batubara, in Jakarta (30/06).

To the Minister of Social Affairs, IMI reported that at least 5,000 automotive sector workers who were members of the IMI were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. They are the mechanics, the crew of the racer team, the organizers of the event, and the race support officers (marshall) who depend on the life of the automotive event, including the racing calendar.

In the chance to have an audience with the Minister of Social Affairs, the Chair of the Central IMI Sadikin Aksa submitted 2,700 names that were already equipped with clear identities to get the President's basic food assistance.

Social Minister Juliari welcomed and expressed his agreement to help. The plan, he will attend a symbolic distribution of assistance which will be held this weekend in Bandung, West Java.

The father of two said that some people saw organizations like IMI as associations synonymous with car racing activities. But actually, IMI is actually an organization that cares about various social activities.

"From here, IMI has the same spirit as the Ministry of Social Affairs. Namely both have concern and real action on social problems. Especially in the current pandemic, all parties must contribute to lighten the burden of fellow children of the nation, "said the former Chairman of the Central IMI.

On the occasion, the Minister stated, as part of the social safety net policy, the President’s Social Assistance is expected to reach as far as possible the people affected by COVID-19. In order to capture elements of the community that have not been reached by the Social Assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs does not only partner with the K / L government, and Regional governments.

"We don't just work business as usual. Namely, it only works with elements of the government, in this case regional governments, K / L, or state banks. In distributing social assistance, we also involve the community, "he said.

Later Social Minister continued to intensify partnership with the community. Distribution of social assistance through the community is one of the breakthroughs made by the Ministry of Social Affairs to accelerate the distribution of social assistance.

For this reason, the Minister of Social Affairs met with various groups to ensure that people affected by COVID-19 received assistance. Those who have been called by Social Minister are film workers, soap operas and artists.

Then also the Ansor Youth Movement, the Indonesian Christian Youth Movement (GAMKI), Caretakers and Leaders of the Shohibul Muslimin Islamic Boarding School in Serang, and most recently yesterday, the Armed Forces Retirement Coordination Forum (FKPPI).
