JAKARTA (19 April 2024) - Commemorating a special day for women, Kartini Day, Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini had the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at the Seribu Kartini event "Different but Equal" at Plataran Kota Senayan in Central Jakarta, organized by YouTube Indonesia on Friday (19/4).
This event was initiated by YouTube Indonesia to honor all Indonesian women who have made changes and differences to break free from limiting narratives.
Risma becomes one of the resilient "Kartini" figures who can be an inspirational female leader.
Risma offered a variety of messages to encourage young people to take risks and make decisions that will lead to a bright future.
"You don't need to be afraid to make decisions to move forward; if there are problems later on, face them and believe that everything will be fine," she said in front of young Indonesian content creators.
Being an inspirational female leader, Risma shared many interesting stories she has experienced. From exploring various regions in Indonesia to helping many people out of poverty.
"I once went to Asmat, Papua, where they asked for Johnson or a boat. Initially, they asked for a boat made of tree wood, but I refused.
Eventually, I taught them how to build boats, and now they can build and repair them on their own, despite not having a high education," she explained.
Risma argues that it is more than simply education; there is something more important, which is self-will. Nothing is impossible if we all agree to move forward.
"Never give up! When things get tough, the victory is near. Strive to be beneficial to many people because that is the meaning of our lives," she went on to say.
"Seribu Kartini, Different But Equal" conveys the message that, while women originate from diverse origins, everyone can achieve something and make a difference in their lives and the world around them.
