INDRAMAYU (December 5, 2024) – The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has begun construction of the Prosperous Fishermen's Village in Eretan Kulon Village, Kandanghaur District, Indramayu Regency, for 93 heads of families (KK) affected by the tidal flood disaster. Social assistance worth IDR16.1 billion was distributed for the construction of houses and public facilities, as well as economic empowerment for the local residents.
The Vice Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, symbolically handed over the assistance and laid the first stone on Thursday (12/5/2024). He stated that this program not only focuses on physical development but also on community economic empowerment. This village will provide 93 houses in type 36 and various public facilities, such as community halls, sports facilities, child-friendly parks, and MSME centers.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs also holds entrepreneurship training to increase the economic independence of residents, with a focus on fish processing, such as fish crackers, meatballs, and dim sum. This empowerment is expected to support the long-term economy of the local community.
The Prosperous Fishermen's Village is expected to be completed in January 2025 and will provide a better life for fishermen affected by the tidal flood. This development is a collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Indramayu Regency Government, Baznas, and Habitat for Humanity, and has received full support from the local community.
