SURABAYA (November 17, 2024) – Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Mensos) visited the family of Bambang Sasmito (41) and Tita Riama (38), residents of Tanah Kali Kedinding Village, Kenjeran District, Surabaya. This family has four children with disabilities and had previously received Family Hope Program (PKH) assistance.

Bambang's family's PKH assistance was cut off because their data was deemed ineligible by the system, specifically due to no PKH components were found in their family. One of the PKH components is people with disabilities, which means that Bambang's family is entitled to receive the assistance.

"Cases like this are of serious concern to us, because data validation is the key to ensuring that social assistance is right on target," said Gus Mensos. He emphasized that this problem will be evaluated in the Ministry of Social Affairs' program, especially regarding the beneficiary data update and validation.

This visit demonstrates the government's commitment to ensuring that social assistance reaches the most in-need groups, including families with members with disabilities. Gus Mensos hopes that these findings can improve the mechanism of social assistance programs to be more inclusive and equitable.
