JAKARTA (6 September 2024) – Ahmad Ali Akhsan, a tissue seller, never expected to meet Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini. The 52-year-old man, who lives at Jl. Masjid 2 Kelurahan Kebon Bar, relies on selling tissues for his livelihood.

Ahmad usually sells tissues near the Kebon Nanas traffic lights from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. He earns an average of IDR 100,000 a day, or about IDR 3 million per month.

The unexpected encounter happened when Ahmad offered tissues to a passerby, who turned out to be Minister Risma.

“I sell tissues near traffic lights. By chance, I offered them to Minister Risma. Alhamdulillah, she bought all of my tissues and asked for my phone number,” Ahmad said gratefully.

The meeting has brought good fortune to Ahmad, as he received capital to support his small business. “Alhamdulillah, I am so happy to have received this assistance,” he expressed.

The story of Ahmad shows how fortune can come at unexpected times. It also highlights the great care and attention Minister Risma has given to the well-being of underprivileged communities.
