SURAKARTA (July 15th,2024) - Commission VIII of House of Representatives conducted a working visit during the recess period of the fifth session of the 2023-2024 legislative year at the Prof. Dr. Soeharso Integrated Center in Surakarta.  The activity was aimed at monitoring the distribution of social assistance in Central Java Province, especially in Solo City.

The head of the delegation of Commission VIII, H. Abdul Wachid, stated in his speech that this working visit aimed to carry out the main duties and functions of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives. One of which was to supervise the process of distributing social assistance, which had a scope of duties in the fields of religion, social affairs, disaster management, as well as women's empowerment, and child protection.

In addition, this working visit was intended to directly listen to the aspirations of various stakeholders regarding social services or the distribution of social assistance, ensuring that it was targeted appropriately according to the data that has been verified and validated in the field.

"That is why the role of companions is very important as the cutting head for the government in the process of data collection for probable beneficiaries," Abdul Wachid said.

Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs for distributing social assistance in Central Java Province, particularly in Solo City.

The Head of Prof. Dr. Soeharso Integrated Center Agung Suhartoyo stated that the total of social assistance distributed in Central Java Province worth IDR 6,038,210,255,456, which consists of Family Hope Program (PKH) assistance in Central Java worth IDR 2,278,506,105,830, social empowerment assistance for phases 1-4 (January-June) worth IDR 3,756,191,600,000, buffer stock for disaster response worth IDR 1,886,314,000, and ATENSI assistance from Prof. Dr. Soeharso Integrated Center for the second quarter in Solo Raya area (1,348 persons in needs of social services) worth IDR 1,626,145,626.

Present at the event were the Head of the National Electricity Company (PLN) for Java Province, the Head of the Social Office of Surakarta City, the Head of the Social Office of Karanganyar Regency, the Head of the Social Office of Sukoharjo Regency, Director of Electrical Network Optimization and Equipment of National Board for Disaster Management, as well as other invited guests.

Endang, the mother of Alfira Rahelia Arsanti (15), one of the recipients of the ATENSI assistance who received a wheelchair, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs for helping her child. "I hope that the government can pay more attention and care to persons with disabilities," she added.
