JAKARTA (October 1, 2019) - Director General of Social Rehabilitation, Edi Suharto, attended and opened the Coordination Program for the Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities at the Morrisey Hotel, Jakarta.

The activity is one of the steps of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in realizing the mandate of fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities.

Edi said that the Ministry of Social Affairs answered these needs by stipulating Regulation of the Minister of Social Affairs Number 9 of 2018 concerning Basic Service Technical Standards on Minimum Service Standards for Social Sector in the Provincial Region and in the Regency / City Region which divided the types of basic services in the Social Sector SPM to the Provincial Government and District / City Government.

"Progres 5.0 New Platform that contains the substance of social rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities in a standardized, holistic, and systematic manner so that the function of the Main Station / Centre / Loka changes from a nursing home model to an Advanced social rehabilitation service center by focusing on the Fulfillment of the Right to Decent (HHL) and Development of Functional Capability (Social Capability & Social Responsibility)," said Edi.

"Therefore, there needs to be good coordination with other institutions in order to achieve the fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities both Regional Governments such as the Social Service, Health Service, Education and Culture Office and with other institutions such as Social Security Administrator (BPJS), Police, Municipal Police or with Social Welfare Institution (LKS) which is engaged in providing social rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities," said Edi.

The activity was carried out for four days on October 1-4, 2019 and was attended by 127 participants consisting of Heads of Social Rehabilitation at the Provincial Social Service, Disability Assistance and Central Participants.
