EAST FLORES (October 25, 2024) – After providing aid to residents of Bugaliman Village, West Adonara District, East Flores Regency, who were affected by a customary land dispute on Monday (10/21/2024), Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) sent more aid to Adonara Island on Friday (10/25/2024). The MoSA team, in collaboration with several associated parties, promptly distributed the supplies.
“Aid from the Efata Kupang Center and Bekasi Warehouse for residents affected by the conflict in West Adonara arrived on Adonara Island by ferry from Larantuka this afternoon,” stated Efata Kupang Social Worker Indra Gunawan, who helped distribute the aid directly.
Following the conflict that destroyed dozens of homes, MoSA initially provided 230 ready-to-eat meal packages, 208 children’s food packages, 65 mattresses, 50 roll-up tents, and 80 blankets. This aid was delivered to Bugaliman Village residents who were evacuated to Wureh Village.
MoSA delivered 102 mattresses, 104 roll-up tents, 104 blankets, 160 children's food packages, 1,040 ready-to-eat meal packages, 277 adult clothing packages, 225 adult undergarments, 102 children's clothing packages, 112 dresses, 225 shower kits, and 200 school uniforms to elementary and middle school students today, Friday, October 25. This aid was presented to Bugaliman Village Head Johanes Ricardus B. Tuban in the presence of residents, as well as representatives from the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (Indonesian National Police).
“We are very grateful for the aid provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs. It is truly beneficial for us,” Johanes expressed gratefully.
In addition to providing aid, MoSA team conducted assessments of families who lost loved ones and those who were injured. Psychological support services were also offered to children affected by this customary land dispute.
