"This means that we all have extraordinary potential. If the potential of nature has known, but others' potential is very large. Don't ever say you can't. Be a winner in our own country," said Social Minister Risma.
As agents of change, she continued, students have the insight to encourage the community to move even faster so that they can be equal to other nations.
The Minister of Social Affairs gave an example of the active role of students in efforts to deal with poverty and social problems in society, for example by helping to protect the surrounding environment in need.
At the end of 2021, the Ministry of Social Affairs collaborated with students through the Young Fighters Program to help deal with social problems in all regions of Indonesia. For example, students help verify beneficiary data by inputting family economic profiles including photos of houses, toilet conditions, geotagging, and others.
"Including PENA (Nusantara Economic Program), which is community empowerment. They (students) can also propose," continued the Minister.
Empowerment is the key to alleviating extreme poverty
Based on Presidential Regulation Number 111 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of Achieving Sustainable Development Goals and the National Action Plan (RAN) for SDGs, the Ministry of Social Affairs is involved in one of the No Poverty goals.
The Minister believes that as Minister of Social Affairs, she is not only tasked with distributing social assistance to the community, but more than that, she seeks to alleviate poverty sustainably.
"What I think about is how these poor people can be empowered," said Risma.
Data from Bappenas in 2023, the existence of National Economic Recovery (PEN) programs and fiscal stimulus, the extreme poverty rate gradually decreased, namely 4% (10.9 million) in March, and then fell again to 3.7% (10.2 million people).
The Ministry of Social Affairs, among others, organizes the economic empowerment of the Indonesian Economic Heroes Program (PENA) with a total of 4,766 Beneficiary Families (KPM) spread throughout Indonesia. Through entrepreneurship assistance, it is hoped that poor and vulnerable families can increase economic independence.
In addition, to support the accuracy of program targeting, followed by improvements to the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) to make it more credible and accountable. The Ministry of Social Affairs made an innovation in the Usul-Sanggah menu which allows the community to propose new recipient data and refute old recipient data if it does not match the conditions in the field.
Meanwhile, on the integrated complaint service side, the Ministry of Social Affairs established a Command Center for public reports, media monitoring, and outreach to people in need.
