JAKARTA (28 January, 2024) – The Ministry of Social Affairs held a sewing training in the Pahlawan Ekonomi Nusantara (PENA) or Nusantara Economic Heroes event at Sentra Mulya Jaya, Cipayung, East Jakarta. This event was attended by 303 participants consisting of social assistants, beneficiary families, and the residents of Sentra Mulya Jaya.
Ministry of Social Affairs held this event to optimize the entrepreneurial abilities to develop creativity and the skills of the participants. The training started from 08.00 to 16.30 WIB and the participant learned about how to sew by directly practicing making hotel slippers.
Atik (40), an instructor of sewing training from MSME Mampu Jaya Surabaya, said that the enthusiasm of the participants was great. “For people who live near Sentra, if you want to use the facilities provided at the Ministry of Social Affairs center, let’s use this facilitate to upgrade your skills,” said Atik.
One of the participants who has graduated, Herlina (42), said that she often joins the PENA activity because it provides various training. “If we do it diligently, it can increase our family income,” said Herlina.
Herlina was graduated in 2023. Ministry of Social Affairs provided her with cash assistance of Rp 50 million for her business in producing hotel slippers named Mawar Mekar Home Industry. However, she had experienced an obstacle in running out of capital caused by her distributor couldn’t immediately give the payment. But she always keeps going to find the way out by making innovations.
Until now, Herlina has an income of about Rp 12 million per month. Not only her income that was going up after joining PENA, Herlina was also happy to help others in absorbing 10 workers. “I hope my business can continue to grow up so that it can help many more people,” she said enthusiastically.
