JAKARTA (February 19, 2020) - Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara is committed to not maintaining poverty. This year there are three social empowerment programs that are the focus of attention, including social entrepreneurship which has been increased 10 times.
Social Entrepreneurship beneficiaries are based on data from the Family Hope Program (PKH), which currently amounts to 10 million or 18% of the complementarity of the Ministry of Social Affairs program. The budget for this Social Entrepreneurship, per KPM will receive IDR 3.5 million, or a total of around IDR 50 billion.
"Our ceiling is approximately 16,000 KPM (beneficiary families). Later, entrepreneurship assistance will be given to those who do not have a business, and of course those who have not accessed credit," said Juliari, when opening the 2020 Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the Social Empowerment Program, in Jakarta, Wednesday (19/02/2020).
The number of KPM for Social Entrepreneurship is also said to be increasing. Because the Ministry of Social Affairs is committed not to maintaining poverty.
"The Ministry of Social Affairs will be more aggressive in carrying out activities and programs that are empowering in nature," said Juliari. Juliari ensured that the ministry's policy direction is to continue to reduce the population of underprivileged people.
"We continue to strengthen and increase the reach of social empowerment programs. This change in strategy has received full support from the President," said the Minister.
On the same occasion, Director General of Social Empowerment Pepen Nazaruddin stated that the Entrepreneurship Program is a work priority in 2020. "Social Entrepreneurship is a new program because the Minister of Social Affairs wants to increase more to empowerment. It does not prioritize social assistance, it still exists. But, it is continued with social empowerment," Pepen said.
"The budget for this Social Entrepreneurship, while per KPM will receive IDR 3.5 million. In total, around IDR 50 billion," said Pepen. In addition, per KPM will also receive government assistance for their entrepreneurial institutions of around IDR 1 million. "Because they need money to develop their business," he said.
The plan continues to be discussed because each region requires different costs. The Ministry of Social Affairs is still discussing the index or the average cost of developing the KPM business. "This year we have actually run 1,400 KPM for the Entrepreneurship Program. But, because the Minister wants to add, so we are pushing again," said Pepen.
Apart from the Entrepreneurship Program, the Directorate of Social Empowerment in 2020 also has other programs, namely small business investment and programs related to potential source programs related to community development. The Ministry of Social Affairs also strengthens the development and sustainability of the Integrated Service and Referral System (SLRT) and Social Welfare Centers (Puskesos) in their respective regions.
In addition to SLRT, and Social Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Social Affairs also strengthens the Remote Indigenous Community (KAT) program. "The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to strengthen the social empowerment agenda while maintaining the continuation of social assistance programs," Pepen said.
The 2020 Coordination Meeting of the Social Empowerment Program aims to unite the direction and actions in the implementation of social empowerment programs from both the central and regional governments.
