SURABAYA, MONDAY (05/09/2022) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini attended the ‘Selection of Human Resources (HR) for the Family Hope Program (PKH)’ throughout East Java. A total of 456 people attended the event which took place at the Convention Hall Surabaya.

In her remarks, the Minister of Social Affairs revealed, from the data he got, the number of applicants for PKH HR throughout East Java was 49,460 people. A total of 14,724 applicants submitted complete documents, and 456 passed the administration process.

Seeing this reality, the Minister of Social Affairs gave motivation and views to the participants. The Minister of Social Affairs asked them not to be discouraged. “Those of you who didn't pass, don't be disappointed. Indonesia is very rich and wide. Being an employee in a government environment is not everything. There is a lot of potential that can be developed outside,” said the Minister of Social Affairs, Monday (05/09).

Indonesia has a very large population. That means, they have big and varied needs as well. Starting from clothing, food and other necessities. "This is the potential and opportunity that you can take advantage of," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

She advised that this great potential and opportunity must be achieved by the young generation of the country, including young people who are currently applying for PKH HR positions. “You have to seize this opportunity. Do not let this extraordinary wealth be taken by other nations. Then, we are just observers, while others will take the benefit,” she said.

Becoming an entrepreneur promises a good life economically. The Minister of Social Affairs gave an example when she was the Mayor of Surabaya, she initiated ‘Economy Heroes’ program. This program fosters small businesses so that they can grow into big entrepreneurs with a turnover of billions and tens of billions.

Indeed, overcoming challenges is never easy. It takes hard work and never give up. "But, it's not impossible. If you want it to be easy, that's fine, let's just spend time at home. But later, no one will give us food. Do you want that?" she said.

The Minister of Social Affairs tells of a child named Gading who has multiple disabilities, where his hands and feet are not perfect. His speech ability is also unclear. However, he dared to overcome the challenges, he is diligent and eager to work.

Everyday he walks along the streets of Pekalongan Regency, selling drinks on a tricycle. When he met the Social Minister, Gading was given assistance in the form of a three-wheeled motorbike. With this assistance, Gading is more motivated and makes his business turnover increase. “I met Gading, his savings were already Rp. 18 million. He can buy a motorbike for his father,” said the Minister of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, an Acting. Director General of Social Protection and Security, Robben Rico, hopes that the selected PKH HR will be able to work politely in attitude, behaviour and actions.

"Respect and treat all levels of society equally without discriminating against ethnicity, religion, race, ethnicity or background," he said. In addition, PKH human resources must also show integrity, which is consistent between words and actions, work full of dedication, and good service.

The selection activity will be held from 5 to 6 September 2022 in the city of Surabaya. The activity includes 2 stages of testing, namely a written test and an interview test. During the registration process, up to the stage of the written test and interview, there is no registration fee.
