Morotai — The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has sent aid to earthquake victims on Morotai Island, North Maluku. The aid arrived on Saturday (21/9/2024) afternoon. "According to the instructions of Minister Saifullah Yusuf, the Ministry of Social Affairs must be present in the community, so we immediately sent the aid," said Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims, Masriani Mansyur, in Bandung, Saturday (21/9/2024).

The aid sent, said Masriani, was in the form of 1,000 ready-to-eat food packages, 800 children's food packages, 150 mattresses, 200 blankets, 200 family kit packages, 200 kidware packages, 130 children's clothing packages, and 200 adult clothing packages. In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed 100 roll-up tents, 30 family tents, and 4 multipurpose tents.

According to Masriani, Minister Saifullah Yusuf emphasized the importance of providing full support to the Morotai community affected by the earthquake. "The Minister emphasized to immediately support our friends and brothers and sisters in Morotai who were affected by the earthquake," he said.

This logistics, said Masriani, is also used to fill the buffer stock in the social barn.

Acting Regent of Morotai Island Burnawan appreciated the fast action of the Ministry of Social Affairs. "I also express my gratitude for the assistance for the earthquake in Morotai," he said. Upon arrival in Morotai, the Ministry of Social Affairs' assistance was immediately handed over to the Regent of Morotai Island to be distributed to the affected community, especially those in East Morotai District, such as Sambiki Tua, Sambiki Baru, Gamlamo, Sangowo, West Sangowo, and East Sangowo Villages.
