BOGOR (October 28, 2022) - In the context of natural disaster preparedness and increasing the capabilities of Disaster Voluntarily Worker (Tagana) personnel, the Ministry of Social Affairs held education and upgrading of Tagana from Junior to Senior level. The activity lasted for five days in Tagana Center, Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java.

 

Senior Level Tagana Training Activities in 2022 which were attended by 68 participants from 34 Provinces throughout Indonesia. They were given training on post management, shelters, public kitchens, and empowering the evacuees. With this level, it is hoped that Senior Tagana will have managerial skills in building an integrated evacuation post.

 

Representing the Acting Director General of Social Protection and Security, and Director of Social Protection for Natural Disasters Victims, Iyan Kusmadiana appointed Senior Tagana to express a hope that they would become leaders of the disaster management team in their respective regions.

 

"The purpose of this activity is for monitoring the team so that the implementation can be as expected," said Iyan.

 

Meanwhile, Irwan Safaria, a participant from Riau, said that Senior Tagana training had its impression. According to him, the education which took place from 24-28 October 2022, did not only provide disaster management material but also mental and character formation as Senior Tagana.

 

“What impressed me was when I was suddenly woken up in the middle of the night, lined up in the field, then had to dive into the pool, then crawl on the ground. It trains us as if a real disaster is happening. Here we gain new knowledge so that we are formed to be swift and responsive in natural disasters," said Irwan.
