GARUT (September 20, 2024) – Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) continues to distribute logistics and assist the victims of the Bandung earthquake. The 5.0 magnitude earthquake damaged multiple buildings in the Bandung and Garut regions.
"In Garut, there are 33 affected households in Padawas Village and 89 households in Barusari Village, Pasirwangi Subdistrict," said Sunarti, a social worker at the MoSA Bandung Social Welfare Education and Training Center (BBPPKS Bandung) in Garut, Friday afternoon (20/9).
MoSA has again distributed the aid in Garut through the West Java Provincial Social Office's warehouse. The aid includes 10 blankets, 20 portable family tents, and 50 mattresses, with a total value of IDR 475,186,250.
Sunarti added that the Garut Regency's Social Office and Disaster Response Volunteer (Tagana) have established a public kitchen in Barusari Village to meet the basic needs of earthquake survivors. "The kitchen produces 1,200 meal packages daily, providing two meals per day," she said.
MoSA, Social Office and Tagana will continue to reach out to earthquake survivors in Garut Regency, offering psychosocial support services.
Meanwhile, in Bandung, MoSA has distributed disaster relief logistics from the Directorate of Social Protection and Natural Disaster Affected People (PSKBA) through the BBPPKS Bandung logistics warehouse. The aid includes 10 portable family tents, 5 family tents, 200 ready-to-eat meal packages, 20 kitchen equipment packages, 60 rolled tents, 100 blankets, 100 adult clothing packages, and 50 children’s clothing packages.
To ensure sufficient aid stock, MoSA supplied additional aid through the PSKBA warehouse at the West Java Provincial Social Office. Additional supplies include 400 ready-to-eat meal packages, 200 children's food packages, 25 family kits, 25 children's clothing packages, 50 blankets, 50 mattresses, and 100 rolled tents.
