JAKARTA (October 1st, 2022) – Ministry of Social Affairs responded quickly in handling victims of earthquake in North Tapanuli. According to Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, the staffs of Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims and “Insyaf” Center in Medan distributed logistics immediately.

Disaster Voluntary Worker or Taruna Siaga Bencana (TAGANA) directly present at the location and helped the victims in handling the after effect of the disaster on early Saturday (1/10).

While coordinated with related institution, MoSA staffs and Tagana has been done a data collection about basic needs of the victims and evacuated the victims to the safer place, especially for vulnerable group (elderly, children, disability, and other special groups).

Logistic assistance from “Insyaf” Center in Medan still on the way to the disaster location. “The assistance is still on process from “Insyaf” Center. They are on the way. If it possible, it will arrive tonight in Taruntung,” said Head of “Insyaf” Center in Medan Iman Imaduddin on Saturday (1/10).

The assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs through “Insyaf” Center in Medan such as logistics for emergency responses in form of fast food 1,500 packages, Kids food 1,000 package, side dishes fast food 1,000 packages, mineral water 50 box, blanket 500 pcs, and matrass 300 pcs.

Other assistances such as bed 200 pcs, adult clothes 300 packages, babies’ clothes 200 packages, diapers 100 packages, roll tent 20 pcs, and family tent 6 pcs.

While based on Coordinator Tagana of North Sumatera Province Eka Darmayanto, communities still traumatized and not yet back to home. Beside because of their houses were not a safe place, but also most of their houses were damaged. “Therefore, Ministry of Social Affairs through North Sumatera Tagana has prepared 4 pcs family tent,” said Eka.

North Tapanuli area was rocked by a 6.0 magnitude earthquake on Saturday (1/10) around at 02:28:41 West Indonesia Time. Source of earthquake were from 15 km Northwest North Tapanuli with depths of 10km. Some area affected by disaster are North Tapanuli (Tarutung), Hubang Hasundutan, Toba, and Central Tapanuli.

The current condition was reported to be conducive even though there are still some people stay outside. In Toba area sometimes was in panic, but it still safe. Sibolga and Medan was reported in safe condition. Temporary data of the victims is 1 person died and 7 persons injured have received treatment from Tarutung Hospital.
