YOGYAKARTA (13 May 2024) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini had a dialogue with 25 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Victim at the Yogyakarta Education and Training Center (BBPPKS). Like a mother to her child, Social Affairs Minister Risma carefully listened to their difficulties in reorganizing their lives, especially from the economic side after serving their sentences. The negative stigma makes them difficult to find a job.

After listening to their complaints, Social Affairs Minister Risma promised entrepreneurial assistance according to their interests and abilities. Even the Minister of Social Affairs is willing to provide various kinds of training through the Nusantara Economic Heroes (PENA) or vocational training at the Ministry of Social Affairs centers. “I will send who can handle empowerment based on your passion. If you want to learn, you can learn from PENA TV every weekend. There is also training at the Ministry of Social Affairs Center,” said Social Affairs Minister Risma to the TIP Victims who were present.

Social Affairs Minister Risma views that the empowerment of the TIP Victim is not only to improve their economy but also to help them not to make the same mistakes. The empowerment is expected to benefit oneself, family, and the environment. Risma also gave motivation for them by showing examples of PENA beneficiaries who have successfully earned high turnover, despite all their limitations

Ismail Alamsyah (55), one of the TIP Victims, was happy to have a dialogue with Social Affairs Minister Risma. His food stall was chaos, but with the help and guidance of financial management, a man from Sleman Regency hopes that his dreams can be realized. “I want my business to run, be able to save money, and send my children to college. Thank you, Mrs. Social Affairs Minister,” he said emotionally.

TIP Victims who had a dialogue with Social Affairs Minister Risma at BBPPKS Yogyakarta, all came from Central Java, namely Semarang City (6 people), Brebes (3), Tegal (2), Temanggung (2), Purbalingga (2), Salatiga (2) and one person each from Semarang Regency, Pemalang, Magelang, Banyumas, Kudus, Demak, and Grobogan.
