TABANAN (May 20, 2020) - The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically decreased people's purchasing power. Losing jobs due to layoffs or being laid off often occur in various regions, including Bali, which has been relying on income from the tourism sector, is also affected by this situation. The decrease in tourist visits has a very strong effect on tourism income.

Because of this, the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Bali “Mahatmiya” Center for Persons with Visual Disabilities monitors the third phase of the Cash Social Assistance (BST) distribution. For the Tabanan area, the distribution of BST for the first period was divided into several phases after the first and second phases of BST were distributed through BRI and BNI.

Based on the data obtained from the Tabanan Regional Post Office, today, 470 BST were distributed to Beneficiary Families in Dajan Peken Village and Gubug Village, Tabanan District.

One of the BST recipients, Kadek Agus Mahda Susila, who used to work at a hotel in the Legian area, Kuta, was helped by this cash assistance. “This cash assistance is very helpful for us who work in the tourism sector who have been laid off and no longer get money from the company,” he said.

From observations, the distribution ran smoothly and received a good response from the community, as conveyed by I Nyoman Sukantra. He expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the government during this difficult times. “I am very happy to get this assistance. Before the conditions calm down, I probably can still get more,” concluded Sukantra.
