JAKARTA (30 July 2021) - President Joko Widodo has instructed all his staff to create synergy between Ministries/Institutions (K/L) to accelerate development by collaborating with the Regional Government so that people can immediately feel the presence of the state.

Following up on President Joko Widodo's instructions, Social Minister Tri Rismaharini will optimize programs from the Ministry of Social Affairs, one of which is social empowerment. Ministry of Social Affairs will collaborate with other Ministries/Institutions, Regional Government as well as with religious and community leaders.

"We have received proposals for infrastructure development programs for houses. But there were not social empowerment yet. We need to add social empowerment to facilitate the assessment," said the Social Minister in Coordination Meeting with the topic, "Building Together" attended by the Public Works and Housing Minister and Head of National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB). The meeting was held online in Jakarta, Friday (30/7/2021).

The optimization of the program from the Ministry of Social Affairs related to social empowerment will be preceded by data matching with BNPB and the Ministry Public Works and Housing. There is a division of tasks with BNPB and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing that not only focus on assistance for the Covid-19 pandemic but also on social empowerment program.

"We will probably finalize it on Monday or Tuesday while communicating with related parties even though social empowerment has not been included in the proposal. So please send it, handwritten is okay, including a land proposal with a site plan. The rules and usage will be checked later,” said Social Minister.

In managing social empowerment programs, Social Minister requested a joint business, a cooperative that can be enjoyed by all members and the community around the cooperative.

"The social empowerment program from the Ministry of Social Affairs is in the form of various skill training such as car/motorbike workshops, farming such as pig farming, basic food businesses, mini markets and so on adapted to the conditions of the local community," said the Social Minister.

Regarding the proposal of site to be used as a place for social empowerment training, the location needs to consider its feasibility and suitability for increasing the expertise of the local community.

"We can discuss it. The point is that we support the aid for the Covid-19 pandemic, secondly we welcome National Games (PON) and thirdly social empowerment of the community is salient to empower the people so that they can live more prosperously," concluded Social Minister.
