ACEH BESAR (2 June 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Darussa'adah" Center in Aceh conducted outreach activities for prospective beneficiaries of assistance to Remote Indigenous Communities (KAT) in Sikundo Village, Pante Ceureumen District, Aceh Barat Regency. Later, through a needs assessment in the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) program, the KAT community, especially children, will receive assistance covering educational, health, and therapeutic needs as well as basic needs.

“Our visit to the KAT Sikundo area is in the context of outreach activities for potential recipients of KAT community assistance. At the same time knowing the general picture and condition of the KAT community so that the needs for the children will be known”. said the Sub-coordinator and Social Counselor, Rina Fahyuni.

The location of KAT Sikundo is located in the Ulu Masen forest ecosystem area. The distance of the village in the middle of the wilderness is about 80 kilometers from the district center. Access to Sikundo Village is quite difficult. Medan starts to be extreme at the point of travel between Jambak Village, which is the second last village in Pante Ceureumen District, to Sikundo Village.

“The time we took from Meulaboh to Sikundo Village was about 3.5 hours, the location was quite challenging because it was raining. But thank God we were able to meet the KAT children in Sikundo Village and give them simple games (play therapy),” said the Social Worker, Agung Yulianto.

Also participating in the activity were Sakti Peksos (Social Worker Service Unit) Meulaboh, TKSK (District Social Welfare Workers), KAT assistants, and the Sikundo Village Head.
