JAMBI (January 11, 2021) - "Alyatama" Children's Center as the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs took quick steps in responding to the case of a mother and three children who are classified as marginal groups. This is in line with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs so that the Center can respond and be responsive to social problems in the working area.

Mrs. F (30 years old) in her daily work collects used plastics. Mrs. F took her three children who were 7 years old, 3 years old and 10 months old. When met by the "Alyatama" Children's Center case response team, Mrs. F was holding her youngest child while guiding her 3-year-old child. The eldest of the three brothers helped his mother carry plastic bags containing used bottles.

The decision made by Mrs. F was motivated by the need to fulfill the family's economic needs. Based on the results of the Social Worker's assessment, Mrs. F's husband works as a driver for transporting goods across districts. Mrs. F's husband rarely comes home and only gives IDR 500,000 to pay their rented bill of IDR 250,000  per month.

Mrs. F said that the activity of collecting used plastic had been carried out since last year. He was forced to take his children with him because there were no adults who could supervise them if they stayed at home. Every day, Mrs. F and her three children go to collect used plastic from morning to evening.

“I had to because I needed to live my daily life. Plus the husband only gives money to pay the rent, but not for the children's food needs. So far, I have never received any help for my current condition,” said Mrs. F quietly.

The social worker in charge of the case response received information regarding the complete identity of Ms. F's children. The second and third children of Ms. F did not have birth certificates. Meanwhile, Mrs. F's third child has not been listed on the Family Card.

The follow-up form of the response to the case of Mrs. F and her three children, namely the "Alyatama" Children's Center team will visit Mrs. F's residence to complete the necessary data. The team will also carry out a follow-up assessment to find out the needs of Mrs. F's children.

"The next follow-up may also include medical check-ups for Mrs. F's three children, and also the fulfillment of the children's basic needs," replied Sarah Kuniati as Social Worker.
