WEST LOMBOK (December 28, 2020) - The Mataram Children's Center "Paramita" as the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs carries out one of its roles to protect children in its working area, namely providing protection and security for children. abandoned baby found by residents in front of the village office in East Lombok.

Initial information on the discovery of the baby came from the Social Work Service Unit (Sakti Peksos) of East Lombok Regency and the work partner of Center from the Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) of East Lombok Regency. The baby has also gone viral on social media so that the existence of the baby is contested by many parties.

The abandoned baby was found on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at around 20.30 WITA in front of a village office. This baby girl weighs 2.5 kg and is 40 cm long.

Because of the many parties who took the baby, especially those in the village where the baby was found, they insisted that they did not want to give up the baby.

Furthermore, Sakti Peksos provides understanding to the Village party regarding the rules according to Government Regulation Number 54 of 2007 concerning the Implementation of Child Adoption.

After going through quite long and tough negotiations between the village and several stakeholders regarding the baby's discovery, finally, on the instructions of the Masbagik Police Chief, the local village party gave permission to the DP3A team and the East Lombok District Social Service to take the baby to the "Paramita" Children's Center in order to receive protection, care, and temporary care.

I Ketut Supena as the Head of the Mataram Children's Center "Paramita" conveyed to the referring parties from the Social Office and also the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office of East Lombok Regency, "We will provide temporary protection and care for this baby, we will provide the rights for basic life needs, while the police are looking for the whereabouts of this baby's biological parents."

At the end of the baby handover process, which was held in the "Paramita" Children's Center Public Service Room, Supena expressed his commitment to always be present in protecting children in the three work areas of the "Paramita" Children's Center as an effort to be present by the State in providing protection for children's rights.
