BEKASI (November 4, 2020) - In order to prepare comfortable residential facilities and infrastructure for the elderly, "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center in Bekasi included the elderly as Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) in a discussion activity organized by the Ministry of Health, Sub-Directorate of Elderly Health.

The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activity discussed the Development of Senior Living Standards / Elderly Residential Facilities that were integrated across sectors.

This activity was attended by Centers/Houses (Panti)/Senior Living which are engaged in the elderly sector including "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center in Bekasi, "Gau Mabaji" Elderly Center in Makassar, Caritas Panti in Bekasi,  Ria Development Foundation in East Jakarta, PSTW Budi Mulia 1 in South Jakarya, Al-Kautsar Panti and other elderly observers.

This discussion relates to the services provided, facilities and infrastructure obtained by the elderly in various sectors ranging from the government to the private sector.

Lilis Heri Mis Cicih as a resource person in this activity provided directions for compiling a draft standard for comfortable senior living for the elderly.

Lilis asked the elderly about several things, namely the reasons for living in the orphanage/center (forced/own choice), the atmosphere in the center, infrastructure, services, problems faced, how to overcome problems, desires, and expectations for the family.

Each participant was given the opportunity to provide a statement of the resource person's questions. The goal is to be a consideration and input for future services.

"I needed help at the Center because I was forced to, experiencing an economic downturn, my children could no longer support me. During my stay at the Center,  I felt helped, for example when I was sick, the Center staff took me to the hospital to get health services. I feel happy to stay at the Center because I was cared for and my needs were fulfilled. In addition, I also gained various skills such as handicrafts and mental spiritual therapy such as recitation," said Musiatin (80 years) who is one of the PPKS of "Budhi Dharma" Elderly Center in Bekasi when responding to the activity.
