TAKALAR (May 23, 2020) – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Social Affairs through the “Pangurangi” Social Rehabilitation Center for Drug Abuse Victims (LRSKPN) in Takalar distributed social assistance to people affected by COVID-19.

1150 packages were given to the residents and will be distributed through 2 stages. In the first stage, 100 packages will be distributed before Eid al-Fitr, and then 1050 packages will be distributed after Eid. The provision of social assistance targets people affected by COVID-19 and victims of drug abuse which was handled by several Drug Abuse Mandatory Report Recipient Institution (IPWL)/Social Welfare Institution (LKS) in 3 regencies/cities, namely Takalar Regency, Gowa Regency, and Makassar City.

In the first stage, the distribution of social assistance is located in Pattopakang Village, Mangara Bombang District, Takalar Regency. As many as 100 households out of 500 data on residents affected by COVID-19 in Takalar District received social assistance in the form of basic necessities, which consists of rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, eggs, sardines, bath soap, and laundry soap.

Based on the instructions from Nur Alam, the Head of the Pangurangi Drug Abuse Center, the social assistance distribution which was centered at the Pattopakang village office was coordinated by M. Dawam S. as the Head of Household Affairs and also attended by the Social Service, the Pattopakang village Head and staff, the Village Leadership NCO (Babinsa) (who was previously coordinated on target data and the security of the basic food assistance distribution) as well as some of the people who have been registered as people affected by COVID-19.

“Alhamdulillah, today, Saturday, May 23rd, 2020, in collaboration with the Pattopakang village, we can distribute social assistance in the form of basic food to 100 families affected by COVID-19 located in Pattopakang Village,” said Dawam.

The distribution of social assistance was carried out through two methods: symbolically distributed at the village office to several registered residents, while the rest is distributed through a door-to-door method to registered residents who have not had the time to go to the village office. This social assistance distribution was welcomed by village officials and the residents.
